Paulina Pérez-Duarte Mendiola

Paulina completed her PhD at PEDAL supervised by Prof Paul Ramchandani. The main aim of her doctoral research was to capture children’s perspectives regarding their ‘interactions with Health Play Professionals’.

Her career as a clinical paediatrician and medical anthropologist focused on improving the holistic outcomes of children’s health and the human rights of hospitalised children. Her previous research explored the profound impact of ‘play’ on sick children’s development, learning and healthcare experiences.

Paulina joined ORCHID (Centre for Outcomes and Experience Research in Children’s Health Illness and Disability) at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children as a Research Fellow, where she focuses on equity of cancer care for children with and without learning disabilities and/or autism.
