Kateryna is a third-year PhD student supervised by Prof Paul Ramchandani (Faculty of Education) and Dr Kathryn Hesketh (IMS Epidemiology). Her research explores risky play within UK early childhood education and care settings. Using mixed-methods data, she aims to measure the frequency, duration and risk levels of risky play and identify the social and environmental affordances that shape it. This project is funded by Cam-DTP ESRC.
Before joining PEDAL, she completed an MPhil in Population Health Sciences at the University of Cambridge and an MA in Early Years Education at the University College London. She brings over a decade of professional experience as an early childhood educator across the UK, Ukraine and Colombia, including four years in a senior leadership role and advisory work supporting teachers in developing play-based curricula.
