Dave is an affiliate of PEDAL and teaches the psychology of play. He provides consultancy services for people who want to understand the evidence on play for policy formation, staff training or product development, and has worked with the Lego Foundation, the UK Parliament, and the US Military Operations Research Society. In 2019, he contributed to the United Nations’ ‘Playing for the Planet’ initiative, to develop a game to help galvanise action on climate change. He is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
In addition to his academic work, Dave is a game designer specialising in narrative and mystery games, or ‘interactive fiction’. His games have sold millions of copies worldwide and been translated into many different languages.
